BYD is first to open zero-carbon HQ among Chinese car brands
MANILA: BYD Headquarters has officially launched the Zero Carbon Industrial Campus in Pingshan, Shenzhen, China. This makes BYD the first Chinese car brand to have a zero-carbon headquarters.
The BYD Pingshan Industrial Campus was established in 2006. It covers an approximate land area of 2.3 million square meters and employs around 50,000 people.
BYD has invited SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification company, to provide consultation, certification, and technical support for the project. This partnership helps BYD to acquire accurate knowledge of where carbon emission is coming from, how to count related emission data, how to apply green energy more efficiently, and how to plan efficient industry strategies.
According to one of BYD’s representatives, “Pingshan's first Zero Carbon Industrial Campus’project will become an important case study with rich experience accumulated, paving the way for BYD's company-wide carbon emission reduction and carbon neutrality.”
BYD has fortified its carbon emission reduction efforts in the construction of the Zero Carbon Industrial Campus with regard to energy structure, industrial structure, transportation, procurement, production, and operation.
The BYD Pingshan Industrial Campus has already been provided with a package of green solutions before. It has an intelligent green multi-level rail transit system, new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, and new energy vehicle charging stations. Now, BYD has extended its emission-reduction initiatives to its daily production and operation. The company also aims to develop an ecological environment for the entire campus through its internal green recycling system.
BYD strives to become a pioneer in sustainable development and uses technological innovation to achieve its zero-carbon goal. The Zero Carbon Industrial Campus project targets to increase the number of zero-carbon factories and campuses in the automotive industry. It also contributes in fast-tracking the low-carbon transformation of China’s transportation and manufacturing industries.
