BYD to introduce eMAX7 in PH

MANILA: BYD is aggressively establishing an expansive lineup in the Philippines as aside from the Shark 6 DM-O, it is scheduled to introduce another nameplate in the local market.

Based on the Land Transportation Office Memorandum Circular VDM-2025-4125, the upcoming offering will be called the eMAX7 Superior Captain — which is identified as an electric six-seater wagon. Given the name, the vehicle would likely be fitted with captain chairs.

Weighing 2,394 kilograms, the aforementioned vehicle has the following measurements:

Set to compete with the Toyota Zenix (among other new energy people carriers in the market), the arriving BYD product is powered by an electric motor that can dish out as much as 201 horsepower — allowing the vehicle to run up to 180 kilometers per hour (kph). Its lithium iron phosphate battery also lets the vehicle cover up to 530 kilometers.

Specifications overseas

While waiting for BYD Cars Philippines to announce the official local introduction of the eMAX7, here are its possible specifications as seen abroad.

The vehicle comes with the same overall dimensions which has luggage space of 180-580 liters.

Its permanent magnet synchronous motor is moving the vehicle via front wheel drive setup. Its battery capacity ranges from 55.4-71.8 kilowatt-hours (which means the Philippines will have the higher variant).

In addition, the soon-to-be-retailed BYD eMAX7 might be sitting on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 225/55 tires.

Among the new-energy related technologies fitted in the India spec offering include:

Seeing how busy the Ayala-led automotive distributor is at the moment, it will not come as a surprise that the model will be seen at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show in April.
