CAMPI, TMA record 17% vehicle sales growth in Feb.
MANILA: Total vehicle sales for February 2022 reached 24,304 units, according to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

On the other hand, year-on-date (YTD) declined by 7.3% compared to the 26,230 units sold in the same period a year ago.
CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez explained the reason behind the 17% growth.
“February 2022 sales have regained a double-digit growth amid the improved consumer confidence as the country has shifted to ‘low-risk’ for COVID-19 classification, according to the government report – a welcome development for the industry,” he said in statement.
Atty. Gutierrez added that the industry aims to sell 336,000 units this 2022.
“As the economy reopens, the safety and health of the public is paramount to prevent another wave of virus infections and cause disruption anew to the recovery of the industry, which targets to sell 336,000 units this year — a 17% increase from the actual volume last year," he stated.
In terms of YTD, the CAMPI-TMA tallied 45,069 units sold this 2022 so far, a figure down by 9.2% compared with the same period last year.
In the passenger car segment, 5,914 units were sold last February.
The top three brands in this segment included Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) with 3,729 units sold, followed by Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) with 789 units, and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) with 619.
In the Asian Utility Vehicle (AUV) segment, 2,660 units were sold last month. TMP topped the AUV sector with 1,275 units, followed by MMPC with 1,092, and Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPH) with 293.
In the Light Commercial Vehicle - Category 2 (LCV) segment, CAMPI-TMA tallied 14,974 units sold last month. The top three brands here are TMP (7,232), MMPC (1,793), and Nissan Philippines Inc. (1,685).
In the Light Trucks - Category 3, Trucks and Buses Category 3 and 4 segments, Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) was the top brand here in February 2022.
According to the CAMPI-TMA tally, IPC sold 164, 112, and 26 units in the abovementioned segments, respectively.
The tally also stated that February's total sales in the Light Trucks - Category 3, Trucks and Buses Category 3 and 4 segments are 391, 285, and 80 units, respectively.
