The upcoming Changan model is powered by a combination of gasoline engine and electric motor.Such will likely be the case as the Chinese automaker’s electrified pick-up truck — first seen at the Guangzhou Motor Show — is now part of the Department of Energy (DOE)’s list of recognized plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) in the country.
Based on the documents from the energy department, the Changan Hunter REEV measures 5,630 millimeters (mm) long; 1,930 mm wide; and 1,885 mm tall with a 3,105-mm gross weight. The approved vehicle trim is the 4x4 Knights Version.
Since it is under PHEV category, the vehicle is equipped with a gasoline engine and an electric motor that can give out a maximum of 268 horsepower and as much as 470 Newton-meters of torque.
Powering the electric motor is the 31.8 kilowatt-hour ferrous lithium phosphate battery. It can be juiced up using a Type 2 GBT connector.
Other details are expected to be shared by Inchcape Philippines (Changan’s local distributor), which has yet to officially announce the Hunter REEV’s official launch date.
