Chery Tiggo 8 Pro with new engine presented at PIMS 2022

MANILA: The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro packs a new heart as it makes its debut at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Beating under the hood of the 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 2.0T — which was presented at PIMS 2022 by Chery Auto Philippines President Erroll Dueñas — is reportedly an award-winning engine. The Chinese carmaker’s two-liter engine won the 2021 “China Heart” Top Ten Engines Award, the Chery leadership proudly boasted.

In the 2021 tilt of the China Heart Engines Award, 15 engines from 15 different car companies were judged according to their power, progress in technology, performance in the market, and their energy saving and emission lowering measures.

The 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 2.0T’s engine packs the “i-HEC” combustion system, and a thermal management system with high-pressure direct injection system. The engine is also said to feature effective thermal efficiency. 

Once it officially goes on sale, the 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 2.0T could sit alongside the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6-liter turbo and the Tiggo 8 Plug-In Hybrid in the lineup.

“They (Tiggo 8 Pro model) offer all the space, comfort, technology, luxury, and safety equipment of the prestigious German SUVs, but at a much more attainable price point,” Dueñas stated in a previous release.'

Among a host of gadgets, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro boasts a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) with 12 safety functions including Rear Cross-Traffic Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Door Opening Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Integrated Cruise Assist, Intelligent High-Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Sign Recognition.
