Chevrolet Trailblazer vs. Toyota Fortuner - The better 7-seater SUV

Also, the glossy front grille adds to all the bling. On the other hand, the Trailblazer appears to be more mature and rugged, like it means business. Chevrolet hasn’t updated it recently and thus features like LED lighting is missing.

On the inside of both the SUVs, there is seating available for 7 people. Space and comfort are also quite similar. We feel the dashboard design of the Trailblazer looks more engaging, perhaps, that’s because it has a bigger touch screen and vertical AC vents.

While the Trailblazer specs already supported Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Fortuner got it recently.

Chevrolet Trailblazer specs have two engine options, 2.5L and 2.8L that produces 163 bhp / 380 Nm and 200 bhp / 500 Nm respectively. Both of them are diesel engines. The former comes with a 6-speed manual with only 2WD whereas the latter gets 6-speed AT and is also available in 4WD.

On the contrary, Toyota Fortuner specs are a bit diverse in this department as it has three engine options - 2.4L, 2.7L, and 2.8L - with one being petrol. Even the most powerful engine of the Fortuner is not as powerful as that of the Trailblazer’s. The torque is low, too.

Trailblazer vs. Fortuner: Safety

Toyota is usually known for providing as many safety features as possible in its cars. Take the Toyota Vios for example. However, when we look at the Fortuner, it seems lacking some active safety features like front collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, etc., which the Trailblazer has. So, if you look from a safety point of view, Chevrolet stands just a step ahead than the Toyota.

Trailblazer vs. Fortuner: Price

Now, let’s talk about money. Both the SUVs here have 5 variants. Chevrolet Trailblazer price starts at Php 1.62 million whereas Toyota Fortuner price starts just a step below at Php 1.60 million. However, it is the latter whose top-end model costs more, PHP 2.26 million.

Conclusion

Making a buying decision is quite difficult, especially when you have to pick from the best options available. The Trailblazer and Fortuner are among the best 7-seater SUVs that we have in the market right now and when we bring price and features into the equation, it appears that perhaps the Chevrolet would be a good choice for people looking for not-so-flamboyant looks but doesn’t want to miss out on power or safety.

Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, has a huge fan following and there must be some really good reasons why it has sold in such unbelieving numbers all over the world. We think that perhaps the Fortuner would be the SUV for someone who likes modern-looks and doesn’t really count the number of horses packed under the hood.
