China Becomes First To Witness the 2016 Toyota Vios

MANILA: Along with China, the ongoing Beijing Motor Show has a lot to offer to the Philippine auto geeks. We have already seen some highly anticipated launches at the show but the most interesting launch so far has surely been the 2016 Toyota Vios. We have also witnessed how Toyota’s B-segment sedan has taken the Filipino buyers by storm and has emerged as a major contributor to the company’s overall sales in the country. This means,  even though the launch is only for the Chinese market for now but, there are high chances of the refreshed B-Segment vehicle showing up in the Philippines.

Coming to the changes on the 2016 Vios, the exteriors have been revamped in a major way and will definitely feel far more appealing to the audience than the outgoing model. Major changes include a brand new face that looks as fierce as a hotrod, presenting itself as a formidable opponent to its rivals. The brand new headlights have a much sleeker appearance along with LED daytime lights and C-Shaped chrome highlights. The front upper grille is also brand new and now displays a distinctive T-Shaped design that is totally unlike anything ever seen on the Vios. The presence of a large radiator grille brings a major change to the vehicle’s face and borrows its design cues from the new Toyota Camry with inbuilt foglamp housing.

Despite some major changes to the new Vios’ face, its rear remains largely unchanged with some added details to the taillights, thinner chrome garnish on the boot lid and a sleeker bumper design. Unfortunately, these are the only details we have for the 2016 Toyota Vios at the moment, as the manufacturer hasn't revealed any info about the interiors or its drivetrain. Although there’s hardly a chance that we will get to see any changes in the vehicle’s current engine choices, there are some speculations about a CVT-equipped variant in the picture. It is still not certain when will the latest Vios will be made available by Toyota Philippines, but looking at its immense demand the chances look pretty strong.
