Corolla Altis Nürburging commemorates Toyota Thailand's endurance race wins

MANILA:  In 2020 and 2021, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand took class victory wins with a tuned Corolla Altis at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2020 and 2021.

And today, Toyota Thailand is celebrating that victory with a Nürburgring package for the Corolla Altis, a package which consists of a body kit and what the carmaker calls an "accelerator control box."

The Corolla Altis Nürburgring pack can be optioned for the Thailand-market 1.8 Sport and Hybrid variants, in exchange for 42,000 baht (around P62,000). However, the carmaker will throw in the package for free when the buyer also opts for premium insurance, which is worth 31,000 baht (around P46,000). 

As a nod to the race car, the grille features a middle divider for a "twin nostrils" look, and the lower airdam is also divided by a bar. At the rear, the trunk wears a subtle lid spoiler up top, and faux rear air vents and diffuser down below. The body kit is rounded up by front, side, and rear skirts, and Nürburgring badges on the front fenders.

Meanwhile, the "accelerator control box" is an electronic aid which promises to sharpen the car's throttle response. The control box is paired to the stock car's running gear. To enhance the sporty intent further, the Corolla Altis Nürburgring sits lower to the ground with sporty springs. 

The Nürburgring package is offered in both 1.8 Sport and all Hybrid models. The regular model is powered by a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that generates 140ps and 177Nm of torque. As for the hybrid, it is powered by an Atkinson-cycle unit making 98ps and 142Nm, as well as an electric motor for a total system output of 122ps. Both varieties use a CVT.
