David Beckham commissions all-electric Jaguar XK140 as wedding gift for son

MANILA: David Beckham, a Lunaz investor, gave his son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law Nicola an all-electric Jaguar XK140 Open Two Seater (OTS) by Lunaz as a gift to the newlyweds.

This clean-air classic bespoke commissioned by Beckham  is the result of thousands of hours of work by Lunaz's 120-strong team of craftsmen, designers, and electric vehicle (EV) professionals. It was manufactured fully in-house at Lunaz's headquarters in Silverstone, England.

The interior of this 1954 Jaguar XK140 is finished in a lovely pale blue. Every Lunaz buyer is given the option of naming their own color. The name of this particular color shall be kept confidential at the customer's request.

The fully refurbished and upcycled interior is finished in light cream, giving the car's vintage appearance a modern twist. Modern technology is subtly veiled, as it is in every Lunaz classic. The dials and controls are similar to the original Jaguar design, with minor changes to offer battery level information and to perform modern functions.

Uprated brakes, suspension, and steering wheel assist the driver, making this most recognized British automotive classic a car that can be used for daily drive.

Beckham stated in 2021 that he was investing in Lunaz, the fastest-growing clean-tech firm in the UK. Since then, the company has grown fast, more than doubling its personnel, and planned to build the UK's largest remanufacturing and electrification plant close to its current headquarters on the Silverstone Technology Park. Lunaz currently has a total industrial footprint of 210,000 square feet, making it the leading company in the internationally acclaimed Silverstone Technology Cluster in terms of both space and personnel.

Lunaz will begin full production of Upcycled Electric Vehicles (UEVs) for industrial applications as part of this development. Indeed, the company just revealed the first fully electrified and upcycled waste truck in the world. This strategy addresses the rising global need to chart a more sustainable path for the transition of passenger and industrial vehicles to clean air powertrains.

Lunaz recovers 80% of the carbon contained in the vehicle by upcycling and electrifying it, essentially bringing it back to factory-new condition. Upcycling is a cleaner approach to convert global fleets to electric powertrains since it saves significant capital.

The company has completed a private investment round through 2021. Aside from Beckham, the Barclay, Reuben, and Dallal families were all identified as major shareholders.
