EnduroCo modified Toyota Hiace is the Ultimate Pinoy Travel Vehicle
MANILA: Filipinos love to travel. Be it a day trip to the beach or a weekend adventure with relatives or friends. A hauler like the Toyota Hiace is a preferred vehicle for those trips with extended family and still have enough space for all the luggage.
Though it can perform well on paved roads, the Toyota Hiace is not something you would take on an off-roading adventure or explore far-flung places with unpredictable terrains. Unless of course, you happen to have your Hiace tricked out by EnduroCo.
EnduroCo is a 4x4 conversion specialist based in Australia that modifies exclusively Toyota haulers—the Toyota Commuter bus, the Coaster bus, and the Hiace Van. The company has made its name designing and developing Toyota Commuter and Hiace Van. They have a 4WD conversion platform that emphasizes comfort and safety over harsh terrain.
Most of their customers are in the mining/ forestry, commercial/aid, and tourism education industry that needs a dependable vehicle that is cost-efficient and capable of moving heavy cargo and lots of passengers. All their 4wd conversions are fully engineered and tested to gain Australian Government Federal secondary manufacturing approval.
For this particular Hiace modification, EnduroCo admits that it is one of the toughest built they had. Soon to be fitted out as a motor home, the Toyota Hiace received the complete EnduroCo treatment: a bull bar, front & rear winches, snorkel, custom rear protection bar and step with dual swing gates for spare wheel and storage box, 17" alloy wheels matched with all-terrain tires, rock sliders, front and rear e-lockers are just some of the modifications that the EnduroCo made to make it “ready for anything.”
Aside from the aforementioned upgrades, the company also improved the van’s suspension by replacing it with heavy-duty springs, upgraded dampers, as well as a 140 mm lift that improves the vehicle’s ride height, ground clearance, and water wading depth.
If only there is a counter version of the company in the Philippines that can also modify coasters and vans to mobile homes, it will not just be perfect for exploring our islands, it will also come in handy when stuck on a Carmageddon in EDSA.
