Engineers tweaked software of 3.0-liter EcoBoost-equipped models
MANILA: Ford Motor Company has given the United States (US)-market Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor performance updates.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much power does the US-spec Ford Ranger Raptor make after the update?
Per Ford, the Ranger Raptor can make as much as 455 horses after the upgrade. How much torque does the Ford Bronco Raptor make after the update?
According to Ford, the Bronco Raptor can make 726 Nm of torque after the upgrade is applied. The brand’s engineers have calibrated the software of the 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine of the aforementioned models, allowing them to deliver more horsepower (hp) and torque.
Per the American carmaker, the Ford Ranger Raptor gets improved power from 405-455 horses. Torque jumps from 584 Newton-meters (Nm) to 726 Nm.
Similarly, the Ford Bronco Raptor benefits from the said tweak and saw a boost in power from 418-455 hp. Its pulling power increases from 598-726 Nm.
“The upgrades are available for 2024 Ranger Raptor and 2022-2024 Bronco Raptors and allow for improved throttle response and an optimized shift schedule, resulting in a more powerful driving experience,” the Dearborn-headquartered company wrote in a press release.
In addition, Ford mentioned that the said enhancements meet the marque’s durability standards and are covered by the vehicle’s three-year, 36,000-mile (57,936 kilometers) Ford Performance parts warranty.
Owners of the said vehicles in the US can purchase the upgrade online and have it installed at a local dealer.
Will PH customers get the update too?
Ford Philippines is yet to confirm if the said updates will become available for the local Ranger Raptor and Bronco (sport utility vehicle's [SUV> Raptor variant still not sold here in the country) owners.
A point of consideration is that the locally sold Ford Ranger Raptor is only fitted with a 2.0-liter Turbo Diesel engine that makes 207 hp with 500 Nm.
Likewise, the Philippine-market Bronco is equipped with a 2.7-liter, V6 EcoBoost engine that dishes out some 330 hp with 555 Nm of torque.
The engines of the said Philippine-spec truck and SUV are somewhat smaller than the displacement size of their US-market counterparts, so expecting a similar offer could be a long shot for those who drive the Ford Ranger Raptor and Bronco here.
Nevertheless, if Ford’s local wing can make it happen, it will become a welcome option as the Ranger Raptor and Bronco are touted in the country as performance-oriented models. On that note, the added power and torque will be appealing to enthusiasts who drive the said vehicles.
