Ford launches limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary Package

MANILA: Ford has released a special version of the Mustang in honor of the iconic pony car nameplate’s colorful six-decade-long history.

Appropriately named the Mustang 60th Anniversary Package, it is an ultra-limited model with only 1,965 to be produced. To note, its total production number is a nod to the year 1965 - the birthday of the first-generation Mustang. 

Appearance-wise, the vehicle gets several retro-inspired designs. For starters, it may come in the Brittany Blue exterior color option, which was first offered by the Dearborn-based car maker back in 1967. Its other available color options include Wimbledon White, Race Red, and Vapor Blue. 

Up front, the special edition of the Ford pony car was fitted with a new grille with a unique mesh design and silver-accented air-intakes. The said grille is flanked by smoked headlamps. 

The vehicle’s side section, meanwhile, features exclusive side graphics in Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red. The aforementioned were made to look similar to the original model’s rocker panel stripes. 

Completing the look of the 60th Anniversary Package is a set of 20-inch wheels with a Vermillion Red-colored center cap inspired by the center caps on the 1965 Ford Mustang. 

The callbacks to the iconic first-gen Mustang continue inside the special trim with a unique digital instrument gauge cluster, which features a serialized plaque.

For its mechanicals, the limited-edition 60th Anniversary Package was equipped with the same bits as the V8-powered GT Premium. Its eight-cylinder engine can produce up to 486 horsepower and 567 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a limited-slip rear differential, Brembo brakes, a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and an active exhaust system, among others. 

Price-wise, the Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package is priced in the American market at $65,245 (approximately P3.689 million). The Dearborn-headquartered company has already made it available for reservation as well. 

It is not certain yet if Ford Philippines will bring in the very special version of the Mustang, but die-hard local fans of the high-performance coupe may appreciate it if it was sold locally.
