Frankfurt 2015 Preview: 2016 Porsche 911 Revealed Ahead of Show
MANILA: Just like every other automaker, Porsche has also revealed the updates of its 991-generation 2016 Porsche Carrera and Carrera S before its debut at upcoming Frankfurt Show. The exterior updates include new wheel designs, new headlights integrated with four-point LED daytime running lights, revamped air-intakes and large bumpers. A modified rear deck lid with vertical louvers and some smart styling touches on exterior mirrors and door handles are also there in the list.
The upgrades inside include revised steering wheel with a rotary switch and a new Porsche Communication Management infotainment system. The said system features a seven-inch display with multi-touch gestures, voice control, online satellite navigation, WiFi connectivity, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. A tray for wireless charging of your smart phone is also available.
Powering this Porsche is a new twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine which when fitted in Carrera will deliver 375 PS and 420 Nm and when fitted in Carrera S, generate 420 PS and 500 Nm. A seven-speed manual transmission and Porsche Active Suspension Management are standard in both models. New is the Sport Chrono Package which feature a rotary switch within the steering wheel to deliver four driving modes; Normal, Individual, Sport, and Sport Plus. Moreover, with this package and PDK transmission, the Carrera and Carrera S can record top speed of 295 km/h and 308 km/h after accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 and 3.9 seconds respectively.
