Frankfurt 2015: The New BMW X1 xDrive and sDrive Revealed
MANILA: BMW's X1, the successful Sports Activity Vehicle has been unveiled in its all new form at #2015FrankfurtMotorShow with the BMW X styling, sporting character, outstanding efficiency and innovative array of comfort and safety features.
Featured in both xDrive and sDrive, this second generation BMW X1 will offer three diesel and one petrol unit respectively. The power range of xDrive is in between 190 and 231 PS while the torque range varies from 280 to 450 Nm. The sDrive figures of power and torque are 150 PS and 330 Nm respectively while the top speed of same is 127 mph and the acceleration time from 0 to 62 mph is 9.2 seconds.
The design traits of BMW X family is clearly visible in new BMW X1 where the kidney grille, three-section lower air intake and “four-eyed” look formed by circular headlights and fog lamps are standard. The height increases significantly by 53 mm and so does the central section of the rear apron.
The interiors are expanded with striking balance between driver focus and practical elegance. The flat surfaces of instrument panel and center console controls are angle towards driver while the controls located in the lower section are wrapped in high quality surfaces which are separated through a new designed bar. The Navigation is standard and iDrive operating system come in form of 6.5-inch or optional 8.8-inch monitor.
Some prominent safety features include Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Brake Assist system, and Dynamic Brake Control system. Further, it will go on sale in October 2015 and prices will be announced later.
