From VW Dieselgate scandal to VW cleanup plan, 2016 Year of the Monkey Looks Better and Cleaner
MANILA: Last year it was all about VW dieselgate scandal, from Europe to Asia, all were shocked and hampered by the cheap trick played by the German automaker. Back in September itself when VW group said goodbye to Martin Winterkorn and welcomed Matthias Mullar, the company under his leadership revealed the future correction plan. Now, that full-fledged plan seems to take shape, with the company all set for Amarok pickup recall that carries its black-faced TDI engine.
Alos, Volkswagen sister concerns, Audi, Seat, and Skoda were found red-faced, as they too were found fitting cheat software in cars. Around 2.1 million Audi and 1.2 million Skoda cars were confirmed to carry the said software that soon will be recalled and corrected.
Last October we informed you about Volkswagen Image Clean-up Strategy that was a six-course plan ranging from efficiency program to investment cut-offs. All this seems to take a shape now with future including the recall of the defeated 1.2 and 1.6 diesel engines. Also, in some parts of the world VW is buying TDI stuffed cars from certified pre-owned dealers. Further only, the first generation EA189 engine recall will take place that in November got fix approval from Federal Motor Transport Authority.
Back then it was disclosed, that the 2.0 L EA 189 engine will be the first one to be recalled, followed by its 1.2L and 1.6L sibling in Q2 and Q3 respectively. Now, if you are wondering what VW will do with cars they will be recalling, then think no more as the company has made it clear that they will be replacing the cheat software with a new fair one. So, after coming back, you will have a car that will meet Euro5 standards with mileage and CO2 figures matching to what is promised. In short like the Das Auto slogan the ill planted mills will also vanish from the VW picture in the years to follow.
The October Volkswagen Philippines press release confirmed: “that all vehicles distributed and sold by Volkswagen Philippines are not affected by the particular software used in diesel engines.”Giving us a chance to sit back and relax, as no dealership trip and long email chain will eat up our time and brain. Instead all you have to do is check out VW new Jetta, Tiguan and Polo Sedan variants that recently landed on Philippines soil.
