GAC Emzoom gets 5-star ASEAN-NCAP rating

MANILA: The GAC Emzoom received a five-star rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

The pricing of the Philippine-spec GAC Emzoom ranges from P998,000-P1.198 million.Based on the 2021–2025 assessment protocol, the Chinese automaker’s crossover in Malaysia scored 88.39 points after getting 36.60 points in the adult occupant protection category, 16.43 in child occupant protection, 17.86 in safety assist and 17.50 under the motorcyclist safety.
The Emzoom — said to be the first model from Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC) to be tested by the organization — has the following fitments as standard: six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, seatbelt reminder system for front occupants, autonomous emergency braking (AEB for city, inter-urban, motorcycle, and pedestrian), blind spot visualization (BSV) for driver and passenger sides, auto high beam and pedestrian protection technology.
Aside from that, the vehicle also features advanced safety assist technologies namely lane departure warning, forward collision warning and lane keep assist.

True to its commitment to safety, the GAC Emzoom has ensured a well-deserved safety performance from both its passive and active safety features offered in the model,” the ASEAN NCAP noted.
“Two of its safety features that will benefit motorcyclists are the BSV, which are equipped as standard on both the driver and passenger sides as well as the AEB for Motorcycle offered as standard fitment for all its variants. The technologies will indeed assist drivers in avoiding collisions with motorcycles either on the side or frontal part of the vehicle. Thus, ASEAN NCAP extends our congratulations to GAC Emzoom for its safety commitment by equipping the safety assist technologies as standard and achieving a five-star rating in its first assessment. ASEAN NCAP also wishes the brand name to continue its safety aspirations as we strive to halve road fatalities across the region,” it added.
Locally, the Astara-led GAC Motor Philippines has offered the GS3 Emzoom nameplate since July last year.
Offered in three trims namely the GS, Touring and R- Style options, the vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine matched to a seven-speed wet-type dual clutch transmission. The combination provides a peak output of 174 horses and 270 Newton-meters of torque but can do 16.18-kilometers-per-liter consumption.
Pricing of the Philippine-spec GAC GS3 Emzoom ranges from P998,000-P1.198 million.
