GAC GS3 Emzoom

The cabin of the GAC GS3 Emzoom is being offered with the two dual-tone upholstery choices of blue and black and black with camel brown. The layout of the cabin looks as dramatic and fancy as the exterior of the SUV, with the GAC GS3 Emzoom getting an array of new-age features and design highlights which immediately catch the attention of occupants.

Behind the fancy-looking flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, the GAC GS3 Emzoom gets a rectangular instrument console with a 7-inch TFT screen taking centre stage. The centre console has a trapezoidal 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is attached beside the instrument console and is slightly faced towards the driver’s side. The lower centre console has sleek trapezoidal panels for the AC vents and automatic climate control knobs below it.

The flat surface at the bottom of the centre console accommodates cup holders, a stubby transmission lever, an electronic parking brake switch and a wireless charging pad. The additional features offered in the GAC GS3 Emzoom are rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, a powered tailgate, a powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting and a 6-speaker audio system.

GAC has completely transformed the design language of the GS3 with this new second-generation Emzoom version. The new GAC GS3 Emzoom looks much sharper from all angles when compared to the previous-gen model which had more rounded profiles at places. This new edgy design language makes it an eye-catcher.

The front profile of the GAC GS3 Emzoom creates a strong first impression with its flying wing front grille, which is essentially a hexagonal grille with sharp edges and vertical gloss inserts. The angular headlamps placed adjacent to the upper side edges of the grille sport all-LED illumination for the daytime running lights. The front bumper also has a very dynamic design with a lot of creases and angular design for the front LED projector headlamps and central air dam. Another interesting bit of the GAC GS3 Emzoom is the contrast orange accents on the grille and sides of the front splitter below the front bumper.

The side profile of the GAC GS3 Emzoom also has a lot of visual drama, with the SUV sporting several creases over the fenders and lower part of door panels. In the top-spec trim, the SUV gets 19-inch machined alloy wheels. The contrast orange accents affirm their presence over the rims, window waistline and triangular C-pillar garnish, which also gets faux carbon fibre finish surrounds.

At the back, the stance of the GAC GS3 Emzoom is quite aggressive with the huge rear diffuser, which has centrally-placed twin exhaust outlets and contrast orange accents to their sides arranged vertically. The tail lamps here continue the edgy appeal with their triangular design and all-LED illumination, with the SUV also having a raked windscreen and a huge roof spoiler.

The suspension setup of the GAC GS3 Emzoom is quite basic, with the SUV getting Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. For a front-wheel drive SUV of this size, the absence of drive modes is quite glaring. The ride quality is composed most of the time, but while driving at higher speeds, the steering lacks feedback and precision.

The GAC GS3 Emzoom lineup is offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as the standard gearbox across the range. The engine produces a maximum power output of 175 PS and a peak torque output of 270 Nm. While the engine claims strong performance numbers on paper and has impressive refinement levels, the power delivery feels jerky at lower RPMs.

Apart from the bare basic safety essentials for an SUV of this size, such as six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill hold control, hill descent control, electronic stability program, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse parking sensors and cruise control, the GAC GS3 Emzoom also gets a comprehensive ADAS package, which includes adaptive cruise control with integrated cruise assist, automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, traffic sign recognition system, traffic jam assist, high beam assist, intelligent speed limit control, lane keep assist and lane departure warning.

With this second-generation model, the GAC GS3 Emzoom has become much more dynamic and premium when it comes to exterior and interior appeal. The decent performance and ride quality are further backed by its strong equipment level.
