GAC Motor PH to implement price increase effective March 1
MANILA: Legado Motors Inc., the official distributor of GAC Motor in the country, made an announcement regarding the price increase of its entire vehicle range, which will be effective March 1, 2021.
The increase in GAC vehicle prices is being imposed in line with the Bureau of Customs (BoC) release of a Customs Memorandum Order that states the policy of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regarding additional tariff rate on imported vehicles.
Beginning March 1, Legado Motors, Inc. will be implementing a P78,000 price increase to its existing vehicle range, which include the GAC GS8, GN8, GS4, GS3, and GA4.
With only a month left before the enforcement of price increase, customers can still take advantage of vehicle models at their existing prices.

During the previous month, the DTI issued the Republic Act No. 8800 or the Safeguard Measures Act that places additional tax on imported vehicles.
The said act is aimed at protecting local manufacturers and domestic industries from imported goods, which may pose a threat or cause serious risks on such markets and producers.
The additional tax on imported vehicles served as a response to the appeal that the Philippine Metalworkers’ Alliance (PMA) has filed. The petition is intended to protect local vehicle assembly operations.
Regardless of the current situation, Legado Motors, Inc. maintains its optimism towards continuous sales growth and will aid the automotive market in recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
President and CEO of Legado Motors, Inc. Wilbert Lim expressed, “We are in the high hopes that the local market will still continue to patronize the brand despite the higher prices implemented by the policy.”
