Geely Auto presents E5 compact SUV in China

MANILA: Geely Auto has presented the E5 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) in China. 

Per the carmaker, the said model is developed for the global market and that it has tested, designed, and completed both left- and right-hand drive versions of the all-electric model. 

Geely noted that, thanks to its research and development teams around the globe (who were able to translate their understanding of their respective markets), the E5 compact SUV complies with global standards and satisfies the regulatory requirements of 86 countries. 

Built on the Geely Electronic Architecture (GEA) platform it adopts a minimalist design that would suit the taste of car buyers worldwide. 

It packs “self-developed” features, which include an intelligent electric drive system, the Geely “short blade battery,” and cell-to-battery technology (which integrates the battery cells directly into the car’s structure rather than housing them in a conventional battery pack) to name a few. 

Per Geely, the E5 compact SUV “is set to be presented soon globally,” possibly with more detailed specifications to be shared once it hits the global stage. 

The Geely E5 is set to compete with other models in the segment like the BYD Atto 3.
