Geely PH looks back at its 2020 milestones
MANILA: Geely Philippines looked back on its achievements in 2020 despite it being a year of challenges brought on by the coronavirus disease pandemic.
Although the automotive industry struggled last year, Geely reported in a release that it was able to reach its sales targets for most months. The Geely Coolray had even become the top-selling five-seater subcompact crossover for three months.
The Chinese car brand takes pride in its 2020 awards and recognitions from the country’s top auto experts. C! Magazine commended two of Geely’s outstanding crossovers; the Geely Coolray as the Best Subcompact Crossover while the Geely Azkarra was named as the Best Compact Crossover. The brand also took home the Best Value for Money Subcompact Crossover from the Auto Focus Awards.
The Coolray has undeniably impressed automotive journalists as it was recognized as 2020 Autoindustriya.com Editors’ Pick and ranked second among CarGuide’s Top 5 Picks for 2020.
Geely also celebrated the success of the six new dealerships that they had opened to public last year. Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), with the help of its partner brands, made it possible to expand their operations to more parts of the country including Quezon Avenue, Cagayan de Oro, Lipa, Zamboanga, General Santos and Imus. They are projecting to open 21 more dealerships in the Philippines this year.
SGAP President and CEO Mikihisa Takayama stated, “Geely is definitely starting the year right coming from an illustrious performance last year. Apart from our customers, the awards and recognitions we have received for the past year are our driving force to do better this year. This means a lot to us as we build our name in the industry and strive to be a major player in the market amid an economic downturn. We want to keep our eyes on the bright spots amid the pandemic and other future challenges this year may bring us. I personally think that ‘quality, affordability, and customer delight’ should be instilled in businesses during the crisis. This period of decline in our economy is a good time to prove to our customers the quality and efficiency our brand could offer without having to burden them too much financially. It has been a week since we welcomed the year with high hopes that 2021 will be a lot better for us. Let us all move forward together.”
