Geely PH sees 52% increase to become 8th best-selling carmaker
MANILA: Geely Philippines had strong year-end sales in 2022, up 52% from the previous year to 9,302 units sold. According to the official CAMPI sales report, this allowed Geely to move up one position, to number eight in the overall industry sales ranking with 2.6% market share.

A total of 1,458 Emgrand units were sold by Geely last year, while 433 Azkarra units were sold, an increase of 35% from 2021.
With a market share of 3.8 (excluding pickup trucks and vans) Geely has advanced to the top six positions in the passenger vehicle industry.
Based on the CAMPI report, the industry saw a significant growth in SUVs and MPVs at around 65% and 58%, respectively.

Across the 2023 Geely Emgrand lineup, available are a normally-aspirated 1.5-liter engine, phone-mirroring functions, six-airbags, and reversing sensors. The 2023 Geely Coolray is the carmaker’s entry to the subcompact crossover segment. It is powered by a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine generating 177hp and 255Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
To accompany the performance, the 2023 Geely Coolray SE variant wears a front lip adorned with faux carbon-fiber accents. Along the sides, the mirrors are finished in the same accents, while the 18-inch black turbine style wheels offer a glimpse of the red brake calipers. At the rear, a tall rear wing up top, aggressive rear diffuser below next to quad tailpipes make the crossover look sportier.
The nation's total motor vehicle sales increased by 31.3 percent in 2022 to 352,596 units.
The largest contribution came from Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), with 174,106 units, or 34.3 percent more than the 129,667 units in 2021. TMP currently holds 49.38 percent of the market.
The second-largest contributor, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp (MMPC), increased from 37,548 units in 2021 to 53,211 units in 2022, a growth of 41.7%. Ford Philippines completed the top three with 24,710 units, a 23.5 percent increase over the 20,055 units sold in 2021. A total of 7.01 percent of the local market is also accounted for by Ford Philippines.
In fourth standing is Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) with 21,222 units, and Suzuki Philippines Inc (SPH) came in fifth with 19,942 sold units.
