Geely PH sets monthly sales record of 1,058 units in July

MANILA: Geely Philippines' sales — surpassing its previous greatest monthly sales record of 1,036 units last March — hits another all-time high in July with 1,058 units sold. 

The distributor of Geely automobiles, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), claimed a 32% increase in sales for July compared to sales of 804 units the previous month.

The Geely Coolray led July sales with 540 units (up 92% from June 22 sales), followed by the Okavango with 396 units (up 59% from June 22 sales). Due to supply issues, sales of Emgrand and Azkarra were capped at 91 and 31 units for the month, respectively. 

The brand sold a total of 5,360 units during the course of the first seven months of 2022, an increase of 83% year over year that well outpaced the 15% growth experienced by the entire sector. Geely has a 2.8% market share compared to 1.8% during the same period previous year, placing it eighth in terms of overall industry sales.

“We are very honored to join the "four-digits club" (more than 1,000-unit monthly sales) that we consider as a clear testament of the customers` trust in the Geely brand. Coolray remains to be the best-selling model in the roster of Geely vehicles. The recent introduction of the Coolray Special Edition (SE), with its sportier and distinct look, has led to more customers admiring and getting excited over it,” SGAP President and CEO Yugo Kiyofuji said.     

Given the Geely Emgrand's favorable market acceptance in the subcompact sedan sector and its plentiful stock supply, SGAP is also optimistic that it can further capitalize on the subcompact sedan to increase its sales volume in the upcoming months. With cumulative sales of 895 units as of the end of July, the Emgrand rocketed to fourth place in this subcompact sedan sector since its launch in February. 

“With better supply starting this month complemented with aggressive and really affordable financial plans from our bank partner RCBC, we expect Emgrand to further challenge the top-three spot in the subcompact sedan segment,” Kiyofuji added.
