Geely sells more than 2.3-M vehicles globally from Jan.-Sep. 2024

MANILA: Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) has sold a total of 2,319,664 vehicles globally from January-September 2024. 

Out of the aforementioned global cumulative sales figure, 976,256 units were electrified vehicles, including battery electric vehicles (BEV), hybrid electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). 

For the first nine months of 2024, sales outside China reached 907,578 units. The firm’s September 2024 global sales alone managed to reach 308,119, representing a 17.8 percent year-on-year increase. 

The conglomerate disclosed the said figures via a report, which also detailed the sales numbers for the brands operating under its wing. 

Geely Auto

Geely Auto, which includes Lynk & Co and Zeekr saw 201,949 units sold in September 2024.

Out of the said figure, 64,387 units were BEV models, while 26,747 were PHEV models. 

Volvo

Geely-owned Volvo Cars, on the other hand, reached a global sales total of 560,922 units for the first nine months of 2024. Geely was not able to provide the September 2024 sales number for Volvo, but it was noted that the Sweden-based brand sold 62,458 vehicles globally in August 2024 alone.  

Proton

Geely Holding also shared the sales performance of Proton Cars, of which the Chinese consortium controls a 49.9 percent stake in partnership with Malaysian company DRB-HICOM.

From January-September 2024, Proton sold 112,758 units, allowing the brand to break the 100,000 annual sales benchmark for six years in a row.

In the context of the local market, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) June 2024 report indicated that Geely PH managed to sell 2,128 units locally from January-June 2024. 

To note, the local sales figure from CAMPI-TMA was taken during a time when Geely still operated under Sojitz G Auto Philippines. Since July 2024, the Chinese brand’s local arm has been led by the Geely Automobile International Corporation.
