Geely Yinhe E8 EV sedan claims 2024 iF Design Award

MANILA: Geely’s flagship electric sedan — the Yinhe E8 — has won the 2024 iF Design Award.

Per the Chinese carmaker, the Geely Yinhe E8 electric vehicle (EV) had gone through extremely harsh election criteria where it garnered recognition from 132 global authoritative design review experts from 23 countries.

“Review experts believe that the breakthrough of Geely Yinhe E8 lies in the perfect integration of culture, technology, and user needs,” the Hangzhou-headquartered auto brand said in a press release.

“In the ‘Galaxy Era’ of new energy vehicles, Geely Yinhe anchors the ‘high value’ of its products and adheres to its original intention of ‘making smart premium cars for everyone,’” it added.

The prestigious honor awarded to the Geely Yinhe E8 EV was due to the high-value design offered by the electric car.

At its fore is the world’s first mass-produced integrated luminous front facia. According to Geely, the front-end design was created using patented “micro-hole laser engraving” technology.

The said feature not only inherits the marque’s classic ripple symbol design but also makes the emissions-free four-door sedan easily recognizable.

Inside, the world’s first mass-produced 45-inch 8K unbounded smart screen in the car integrates multiple functions to meet the in-vehicle interactive unbounded experience required by users.

“Rooted in Chinese culture and Geely’s super symbol-Ripple, and tailored for users’ needs in functionality, experience, and emotion, Geely Galaxy E8, a wide-bodied, over-five-meter pure electric flagship sedan, revolutionizes Chinese automotive design with its distinctive original aesthetics,” iF Design Award wrote in its website.

“Built on the high-bandwidth, high-efficiency, and more integrated Sustainable Experience Architecture, the sedan boasts the world’s first mass-produced one-piece luminous front face, the world’s first 45-inch 8K Ultra-wide Smart Domination Screen, and ultra-low drag, adeptly harmonizing culture, high-tech, and user experience. Here, high value meets the NEV (new-energy vehicle),” added the organization.

Geely is yet to launch an EV here in the Philippines. The brand’s current lineup includes nameplates such as the Coolray, Azkarra (mild-hybrid), Okavango, Emgrand, and GX3 Pro.

It previewed the Geometry C not too long ago, but its arrival is expected to be in the latter half of 2024.

Nevertheless, Lynk & Co — a brand co-owned by Geely and Volvo — is set to make its formal entry into the country within the month.
