GIIAS 2024: Updated Kia Seltos reaches Indonesia

MANILA: Kia Indonesia has launched the updated Seltos during the ongoing 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). There it was rolled out together with the EV9 Earth and the Carnival Hybrid.

Now listed on Kia Indonesia’s website, the updated Seltos there is offered in two variants either with a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter Smartstream engine or a 1.5-liter Smartstream powerplant with turbocharged technology.

The former makes some 113 horsepower (hp) with 144 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque while the latter puts out 157 horses with 253 Nm of pulling power.

Per the company’s literature, the naturally-aspirated mill is equipped with an eight-speed intelligent variable transmission (IVT) while the turbocharged model is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

“Today, we proudly launch the new Kia Seltos, which comes with a more fresh and sporty design, and is equipped with various modern features, such as a panoramic sunroof and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) active safety features. The new Kia Seltos also has new engine options, namely 1,500cc (cubic centimeter) and 1,500cc turbo. For visitors who are interested, they should order the new Kia Seltos with various attractive promotions during GIIAS 2024,” PT Kreta Indo Artha Marketing and Development Division Head Ario Soerjo said.

In Indonesia, the new Kia Selto is priced from Indonesian rupiah (rp) 425 million to rp 525 or approximately P1.528 million to P1.888 million.

New Kia Seltos in PH

Prior to its arrival in Indonesia, the updated Kia Seltos already made its way to the Philippines last year. In January 2024, the Ayala-led Kia brand brought the SX variant of the crossover to the country.

Like its other Southeast Asian counterpart, the base model Philippine-market Kia Seltos also gets a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter engine with IVT. It can also dish out 115 hp with 144 Nm.

However, the range-topping SX variant here in the country gets a turbocharged 1.4-liter power unit with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Performance-wise, it can generate 138 hp with 242 Nm of torque.

Pricing for the locally available Kia Seltos ranges from P1.198 million to P1.688 million.
