Grab onboarded additional 4,000 drivers for the Christmas rush. The transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) provider rolled out various mobility solutions designed to maximize fleet utilization and ensure that every GrabCar is operating to its full potential.
In the previous years, Grab has noticed a discernible rise in demand for its mobility services during the holidays. This month, demand for GrabCar is projected to increase by at least 20 percent, peaking at 45 percent in the second and third weeks. Supply allocation may be challenged by the growing demand, which the superapp attempts to mitigate with its vehicle maximization strategy.
“The experience of our passengers, consumers, and partners on Grab is our utmost priority. Every Filipino should be able to partake in the long-lasting holiday festivities with the help and support of Grab’s mobility service,” Grab Philippines Chief Operating Officer Ronald Roda stated.
One of the solutions offered is GrabShare, which was relaunched earlier this year. The carpooling service matches passengers traveling in the same direction so they can share a single vehicle.
Those who will travel out of the country and those who will be coming back home to celebrate Christmas here in the Philippines are also assured of a dependable GrabCar booking experience. Grab collaborated with airport authorities and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to launch GrabAirport, an on-demand ride-hailing service supported by a dedicated Grab fleet for airport pickups and drop offs.
Grab has also introduced multi-taxi type (MTT) booking for passengers who urgently need to book a ride. MTT bookings may cut allocation time by 20 to 30 percent by allowing the platform to search for vehicle allocation from a variety of Grab's mobility options, such as GrabCar Four-Seater, GrabCar Six-Seater, and GrabTaxi.
To achieve equilibrium between demand and supply on the platform, Grab works closely with the LTFRB to expand the current pool of drivers. This year, Grab was able to grow its fleet by 40 percent as a result of the LTFRB opening up new slots. Grab continues to onboard drivers who were able to secure a slot from the most recent pool of 10,200 TNVS franchises that LTFRB granted in August. From this pool, 4,000 new driver-partners have been activated so far.
Grab also promotes Move It, a new player in the motorcycle taxi scene, as an alternative mobility option.
Through its strategic partnership with Grab, Move It was able to establish a fleet of well-trained professional riders and maintain a 99.999-percent road safety record.
