GWM showcases Beetle-like Ora, limited-edition Tank 700 Hi4-T at Guangzhou
MANILA: Great Wall Motor (GWM) is showcasing a Beelte-like Ora and the limited-edition Tank 700 Hi4-T at the ongoing Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.

Per GWM, the company only produced 70 units of the Tank 700 Hi4-T.Both the GWM Ora and the Tank have been previously previewed in the Philippines with the former even making an appearance at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
GWM was eager to showcase a version of the Ora dressed up to look like a Volkswagen Beetle — aka the people’s car.
Dubbed the “Ballet Cat,” the electric car comes complete with a front grille, lights, wheels, and a rear spoiler that evokes a classic design. Its rounded exterior dimensions further reinforce its graceful and beautiful overall appearance. Inside, the GWM Ora appears to have seats with rounded headrests that perfectly embody its fun and feminine look.
Speaking of which, the GWM Ora is marketed as a “woman’s” car with the carmaker adopting a brand positioning of “loving women more.” On that note, GWM believes that the Ora has become a pioneer in the automotive segment that focuses on the female market.
To date, GWM revealed that the Ora has sold over 10,000 units. GWM is penetrating various markets and is selling the Ora in 87 countries globally.
“The Ora brand respects users’ discovery and pursuit of beauty, sees the diverse and personalized modification needs of female users, and creates and shares beauty together with users,” GWM wrote in a press release.
GWM also revealed the limited-edition Tank 700 Hi4-T, of which, only 70 samples are produced. Unfortunately for those looking to get their hands on the exclusive, electrified sport utility vehicle, it was sold out after just 55 seconds of its announcement.
According to the Chinese carmaker, The GWM Tank 700 Hi4-T is powered by the brand’s 3.0T V6 twin-turbo engine paired with a P2 motor, which sums up to about the performance of a V8 powerplant.
Combined, the powertrain setup makes as much as 516 horsepower and peak torque of about 850 Newton-meters.
“As a global high-end luxury off-road brand, the Tank brand continues to lead the upward breakthrough of Chinese off-road vehicle brands. Based on technological innovation, flagship products, and exclusive services, the Tank brand has launched a full-dimensional brand ultra-high-end construction, creating a new benchmark for Chinese luxury off-road,” GWM noted in a press statement.
GWM also showcased a performance-oriented version of the Cannon pickup truck, named the ShanHai Cannon Performance Edition. It is said to be “bigger, stronger, more luxurious, and more fun.”
Additionally, GWM displayed the ShanHai Cannon PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). The model is expected to provide an innovative solution for new-energy car buyers in the region. It is believed to lead the pickup truck into the “4.0 era of all-scenario intelligent new energy.”
At the same time, GWM also highlighted the customized and “high-cold” editions of the Cannon at the auto show to meet the diverse vehicle needs of users.
