Have a look at the 2020 Land Rover Defender
MANILA: It has been quite a long time since the automobile space is waiting for the arrival of the 2020 Land Rover Defender. The good part is that we finally have the day booked in our calendars for the official introduction of the all-new 4x4.
However, a look at the much-awaited and highly-anticipated 4x4 before "the day" won't hurt, would it? About ten days before the 2020 Land Rover Defender at last steps on the podium, there is an image of the 4x4 that has started doing rounds over the internet.
A Defender fanatic with an Instagram "shedlocktwothousand" has somehow managed to grab a photo of the all-new Defender's front end. The photograph was taken while the 4x4 was on the set of a James Bond film.
Let's discuss the photograph of the 2020 Land Rover Defender now. By the looks of it, the 4x4 continues to vaunt the retro and iconic boxy body structure, however, with much softer corners. The curves are also much rounder now and provide the updated Defender with the perfect blend of modern-retro appearance.
The windshield is more rakish than before, and the headlamps are rectangular units with inbuilt LED DRLs. At last, we see a concerted grille. Thanks to the user that posted the image online, it is for the first time that we have had a look at the 2020 Land Rover Defender without a camouflage.
Besides, do you recall the Defender Lego set that was leaked earlier in June? The latest image circulating over the internet confirms that the Lego was indeed inspired by the production model.
Land Rover Philippines will reveal the next-generation Defender on September 5, 2019. Unlike the previous-generation model, the all-new 4x4 will be produced at the automaker's brand-new facility in Nitra, Slovakia. The production will kick-off in December, later this year.
Furthermore, the new 4x4 will get various powertrain options including a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and a hybrid setup. The suspension setup comprises of a new independent system instead of the old leaf springs.
So, when does the 2020 Land Rover Defender land on the Philippine shores? According to sources, we should see the all-new Defender on the local roads by February or March 2020.
