KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Lynk and Co 01?
The Lynk and Co 01 uses a plug-in hybrid system with a 1.5-liter engine. What are some of the safety features of the Lynk and Co 06?
The Lynk and Co 06 comes with safety features like a 540-degree panoramic camera, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warning.During the marque’s introduction, Lynk and Co Philippines previewed its two initial offerings — the 01 and 06 — which will be formally unboxed in the upcoming 2024 Manila International Auto Show. And for those wondering what features they might offer, here are the possible specifications of the forthcoming motor vehicles.
Lynk and Co 01
The Lynk and Co 01 is a crossover that dons sleek and sophisticated looks.
Immediately noticeable are its Aurora Borealis daytime running lamps that sit just right under its bonnet with a minimalist Lynk and Co emblem. Below is a beautiful grille flanked by stylish headlamps while a latticework with wider openings can be found just under it. A skid plate also appears to have been slapped under the vehicle’s chin.
The side profile of the Lynk and Co is highlighted by various appliques like the brand’s name on the crossover’s fenders as well as a set of blacked-out appointments such as its pillars, wheel arches, side mirrors, door claddings, and roof rails — which we hope are load-bearing.
It rides on two-tone aluminum alloy wheels.
At the back, the Lynk and Co 01 wears a chrome “Lynk & Co” script and “01” nameplate. It also gets a roof-mounted spoiler with what appears to have an integrated brake lamp, a pair of Energy Cube LED taillamps, reflectors on each side, twin exhaust pipes, and a black bumper/diffuser.
Stepping inside the cabin, the crossover gets a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, seats covered in hide that matches its blue exterior finish, a stylish center console, a large (possibly 12.3 inches) digital instrument cluster, and a similarly-sized infotainment system.
Overall, the atmosphere inside the Lynk and Co 1 is very natural and minimal — possibly due to the influence of Volvo since it is part owned by the Swedish carmaker and Chinese auto titan Geely.
As for its powertrain, the Lynk and Co 01 is said to be using a 1.5-liter engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual clutch transmission. It is a plug-in hybrid vehicle with a battery that can be charged using an AC Type 2 charger.
Performance-wise, we have seen through the company’s literature that it makes approximately 260 horses with 265 Newton-meters of torque. The Lynk and Co 01 offers emissions-free driving of about 69 kilometers.
Lynk and Co 06
The Lynk and Co 06 will be the brand’s bet for the local compact SUV segment.
The Porsche Cayenne-esque model shares a few similar exterior features as its crossover stablemate. Nevertheless, there are noticeable differences in the layout of the grille and wheels. In addition, the Lynk and Co 06 a Z-shaped sports beltline, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, and dual chrome exhaust pipes.
A flat-bottom steering wheel is also found inside the compact SUV as well as seats that share the same Carnation hue, which the vehicle is swathed with. It also gets a digital instrument panel and infotainment system that are possibly the same size as that on the 01.
Pamphlets handed out during the brand’s launching showed that the Lynk and Co 06 gets a robust list of safety features, which include a 540-degree panoramic camera, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, and intelligent adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.
Pricing
Revealed was the possible price tags for the two vehicles. Below are their indicative sticker prices:
- Lynk and Co 01: P2.4 million
- Lynk and Co 06: P1.5 million
Final thoughts
Both the Lynk and Co 01 and 06 appear to be good picks for today’s generation of car buyers, which is why they seem to target the younger market.
“Philippines is a significant economy in the Southeast Asia — it has a huge potential for automotive consumption. From our research, the young generation here plays the most important role in the Philippine auto market,” said Lynk and Co Head of Asia-Pacific Business Unit Bruce Lee.
“The young generation, they pursue modern designs, excellent performance, and more intelligent driving features. And then, the arrival of Lynk and Co comes at the right time,” he added.
