MANILA: After a year’s worth of publicity, the much-anticipated grand launch of the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw is set to happen a few hours from now.

    For starters, the leading automotive distributor announced that the public can expect a jam-packed performance on all three days (December 6-8) as they can enjoy listening to the hits of Filipino artists.

    Performing on stage at the Glorietta Activity Center on the first day is Bamboo, to be followed by Spongecola, and Parokya ni Edgar for the second and third days, respectively. Dilaw, Hale, and Sunkissed Lola, on the other hand will be at the Trinoma Activity Center.

    Meanwhile, The Juans will serenade the crowd at the Ayala Malls Solenad on the opening day — while Parokya ni Edgar and Hale will be having their repeat performance on the following days.

    In addition, TMP will also bring a surprise artist at the Glorietta venue on the last day whom they call as their “favorite bida (protagonist).” Judging by the teasers, it would likely be Coco Martin.

    Further TMP noted that it will conduct informative talks and workshops as well as fun and exciting games for the whole family.

    Joining the likes of the Vios and Innova, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw is the third model that will be produced locally.

    Earlier reports noted that the company made a P5.5 billion-investment for the aforementioned commercial vehicle project and is poised to produce 20,000 units for the first year.

    Here are the expected specifications of the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw, which prices will begin at around P800,000.

    Created under IMV 0 (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle Zero) platform, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw measures 5,305 millimeters (mm) long and 1,795 mm wide — with a 3,085-mm wheelbase.

    Its height varies from 1,711-2,011 mm and its payload capacity can carry up to 1,125 kilograms — depending on the chosen body type.

    Inside, the Its cabin comes with a urethane steering wheel, seven-inch display (double din audio system) paired with two speakers, and a pair of cupholders.

    Further, the next-generation Toyota Tamaraw is fitted with airbags, as well as disc and drum brakes with anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution. It is also packaged with the following warranty coverages:

    • Bumper-to-bumper warranty: 100,000 kilometers or 36 months
    • Rear body conversion: 20,000-100,000 kilometers or 12-36 months.
