Honda sets a new production record in H1 2019 with 2.7 million vehicles

MANILA: In a newly released data, it has come out that Honda has ended up producing around 2.7 million vehicles in H1 or the first half of 2019. The production numbers are record-breaking as the Japanese automobile manufacturer has never produced as many vehicles during the same period in the past. And with more and more revisited and newer models in the queue to roll out of the manufacturing plants around the world, we might see an all-time high figure concerning production throughout a year as well.

Speaking of the top contributor, Asia was the region were Honda produced most of the units. With a total of 1,101,190 units, the continent was at the top. Furthermore, China manufactured 743,179 Honda cars on its own. Japan was the second-best contributor from Asia with 472,873 vehicles.

Out of the total 2,692,175 vehicles produced from January to June 2019, 974,350 units were manufactured in the USA, Canada, and Mexico combined. The USA contributed the most with 652,640 units that were assembled at the plants in Indiana, Ohio,

and Alabama. Although the numbers look very good for North America and Asia, the European continent lagged with only 57,768 units. Honda will be shutting down the Swindon, UK plant by 2021 anyway, so, this did not come as a surprise at all. However, it will be interesting to see where Honda sources its vehicles in Europe from following the halt of production in the region.

Apart from the North American, Asian, and European plants, other Honda manufacturing facilities around the globe produced 85,994 vehicles in H1 2019. Among the 25 plants worldwide, Santa Rosa, Laguna is the solitary Honda facility in the Philippines. The plant started operating in 1992 and has built the likes of City, Civic, CR-V, BR-V, and Accord for a long time. The only Honda cars that are produced at plant currently are the City sedan and the BR-V SUV.
