Honda Upgrades S2000 Hybrid with 1.5L Turbo Engine set to deliver 300 HP
MANILA: The Honda S2000 successor will come with an all-new 1.5-Litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine with direct injection and technically advanced internal components. It already delivers 175 horsepower in the 2016 Civic without having any turbo lag.
Undoubtedly, the unnamed sports car will come with two electric motors to recover the torque gaps. It has been rumored that the total power output of the S2000 hybrid will be around 300 hp. In this emissions-obsessed environment, the S2000 successor will run on electricity too.
Honda's power train department might also use some Formula One-inspired technology. Unfortunately, it has been revealed that there won’t be an open-top version, so it can't be considered as a genuine successor to the S2000. But knowing the following advancements, the new Honda sports car will likely be more expensive than the S2000.
According to the reports, the car will arrive on the market during 2018. It will feature styling remarkably similar to the concept version as shown in the patent drawings similar to Acura’s NSX supercar that stayed true to its own series of concepts. Prices will start from about £50,000 equivalent to PhP 3,536,312.22.
