KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Lamborghini Urus SE?
The Lamborghini Urus SE is powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 gaoline engine paired with a hybrid system. How much power does the Lamborghini Urus SE make?
The Lamborghini Urus SE makes approximately 789 hp.Per the Italian luxury car brand, its hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV) was revealed to some 300 esteemed guests at The Summer House, Nai Lert Park. There, they saw first-hand the Lamborghini Urus SE, which — compared to the non-hybrid models — offers a new design, optimized aerodynamics, available onboard technology, and plug-in hybrid powertrain.
“Thailand is one of the key markets in Southeast Asia and I am thrilled to present the Urus SE to our Thai Lamborghini customers and fans. The new Urus SE sets the stage for an era of Super SUV evolution in the electrification phase, and it is also a significant milestone for the brand. I believe that this car is an interpretation of the brand going beyond, and how we revolutionized the automotive world with our iconic Super SUV,” Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific Region Director Francesco Scardaoni said.
Powerful hybrid system
At the heart of the Lamborghini Urus SE is a hybrid setup that consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 powerplant, re-engineered to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain. In unison, the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the electric system produce some 789 horsepower with a little under 1000 Newton-meters of torque.
According to Lamborghini, the calibration strategy between the ICE and electric motor ensures an “optimal power curve in every driving mode and on every surface.”
The V-8 mill and electric motors are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Lamborghini also noted that the Urus SE is fitted with a new centrally-located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which distributes driving torque variably and continuously between the front and rear axles.
“The underlying mission of the project was clear: to offer state-of-the-art performance combined with the uncompromising character typical of Lamborghini’s DNA,” Lamborghini Urus Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Ing. Rouven Mohr commented.
“The Urus SE is positioned at the top of its class in terms of being fun to drive and for its driving dynamics. It’s a vehicle that harmoniously combines different qualities: absolute comfort and at the same time performance and fun-to-drive, ensuring an experience like no other,” he added.
Design, aerodynamics
At a glance, the aggressive and sporty looks of the Lamborghini Urus SE are unmistakable. It wears a new hood with a floating design, which recalls styling concepts introduced by the Revuelto.
Other new elements — the Sant’Agata Bolognese-headquartered brand pointed out — include the headlight clusters that feature matrix LED technology as well as a redesigned bumper and grille.
The rear end of the Lamborghini Urus SE now boasts a Gallardo-inspired design that connects the Y-shaped lights with the new rear diffuser. It also packs a new spoiler that increases rear downforce by 35 percent at high speeds.
Aerodynamic efficiency is also improved by new under-body air vents and revamped air ducts.
“We took inspiration from the Revuelto with the floating engine bonnet, achieving a very clean and muscular front design. The state-of-the art front light system integrates a new, distinctive DRL (daytime running light) signature. The rear emphasizes a wider stance with a focus on the new diffuser and low-mounted license plates, while the rear mesh takes inspiration from Lamborghini super sports cars like the Gallardo. The interior design follows our ‘feel like a pilot’ philosophy, enhancing interaction between the driver and the digital system,” Lamborghini Design Director Mitja Borkert explained.
Updated cabin
Drivers will be greeted by a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a dedicated telemetry system and new display options relating to the hybrid SUV’s driving assistance system. It is accompanied by a similarly-sized (12.3-inch) touchscreen infotainment unit with updated graphics.
Additionally, the cabin of the Lamborghini Urus SE offers striking air vents with new panels, seats, and dashboard coverings.
“It is a great opportunity for our Thai Lamborghini enthusiasts to view the Urus SE up close at The Summer House, Nai Lert Park, just less than one month after the world premiere. With the launch of the Urus SE, we are confident that this latest model will be well-received by Lamborghini Thai fans across the country,” Lamborghini Bangkok Chief Executive Officer Apichat Leenutaphong noted.
Lamborghini Urus in PH
With the recent introduction of the Lamborghini Urus in Thailand, it is possible that the hybrid SUV will land in our country and we are hoping that its arrival will be sometime soon.
