Hyundai Accent Hatch: Features explained
Hatchbacks have a fundamental job. To transport people from point A to B in the least possible footprint possible but with the maximum comfort. There also come along hatchbacks that are kitted with creature comforts to the gills while doing the aforementioned chore. Then manufacturers came up with an engine worthy of a sports sedan body but shoehorned into a hatchback. How about if we tell you that there indeed is one hatchback which has all these qualities but also doesn’t cost a bomb at the bank. Move aside Ford Focus and the Civic Type R. Welcome the new Hyundai Accent hatchback. We have explained all the features of this hatch from the Korean car maker here.
Feature list
The Hyundai Accent hatchback has got the same looks as its sedan counterpart. The features are also at par. These include halogen headlights, front fog lamps, 14-inch steel wheels with caps, body coloured mirrors, radio antenna, LED tail lights and more. The cabin has got a cheerful ambience to it with the beige upholstery. There is a manual AC unit, lots of cubby holes, fabric upholstery, powered wing mirrors, day-night mirrors, headrests which can be adjusted and all four power windows. The audio system is a single DIN unit that will take in USB, AUX and CDs. The boot space is 400-litre. In the meter console, the trip computer will show up Trip A and B distance to empty, average fuel consumption, instant fuel consumption, average speed, and time elapsed.
As far as the Hyundai Accent hatchback specifications are concerned, its length is 4,115 mm, width is 1,700 mm while the height is 1,457 mm. The wheelbase measures 2,570 mm.
Engines
Hyundai surprisingly offers the Accent hatch with only diesel engines. The diesel engine is a 1.6-litre CRDi unit that is turbocharged. However, there are two states of tunes available with this engine. The less powered 136 PS and 260 Nm unit. It can be ordered only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The other engine produces the same power but the torque figure rises significantly to 310 Nm. One can order this engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The kerb weight of the car is around 1,180 kg and this along with the superb power to weight ratio should ensure good acceleration. Not only this, the diesel unit inherently have a tendency to be less sensitive to throttle inputs. This in turn should enhance the fuel efficiency by a fair margin.
Safety features
Unlike the sedan, safety features are standard here. This means the Hyundai Accent hatch gets dual airbags as standard. Hyundai though has reserved ABS with EBD, Brake Assist as well as Hill Climb Assist for the automatic version.
In terms of price, the Hyundai Accent hatchback price in the Philippines starts from Php 852,00, while the top end is for Php 975,000. There are two variants of Accent hatch - GL MT and GL AT.
