Hyundai bags accolades for i20 N, Tucson at Auto Express New Car Awards 2022

MANILA: The Hyundai i20 N and Tucson both received accolades at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2022. With these awards, Hyundai Motor UK and its exemplary product range have effectively been endorsed once again. 

Launched in 1993, The Auto Express Awards by UK motoring publication Auto Express are judged by a highly experienced panel of road testers. "The awards are seen at an informative tool for car buyers looking for the best cars on the market to suit their needs," Hyundai UK said in a release. 

The Auto Express Award for Best Mid-Sized SUV was presented to Tucson for the second year running, a validation of its design, technology, and impressive overall ownership proposition. The Tucson’s broad choice of efficient powertrains and engaging driving experience set it apart from competitors.

Tucson is backed up by best-in-class safety with advanced features such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA). Auto Express also noted the generous space Tucson offers that makes it an ideal family car.

In a statement, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief Steve Fowler said: “It’s not just the distinctive design that sets the Tucson apart from the crowd in a fiercely competitive class, because it passes all the family car tests with flying colors — on its way to a class win for midsize SUVs. Hyundai's winning theme continued with The Best Hot Hatch Award presented to the Hyundai i20 N. The motorsport-inspired model was born at Namyang, Hyundai Motorsport’s Global Research & Development Centre in South Korea, and honed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife race circuit in Germany.

The i20 N is powered by a 204ps turbocharged petrol engine and a mechanical limited-slip differential. The small hatchback delivers a first-class performance and ultra-agile handling on road and track.

“The i20 N has built on the success of the sensational i30 N to become our Hot Hatchback of the Year. Through the turns, the N wowed us with its positive front end and steering that delivered a keen turn-in to corners, while the rear end clings on gamely with just enough adjustability to keep things reassuring yet hugely entertaining. Few cars deliver so many grins at any price," Fowler added.
