Hyundai Dazzled With its Fleet of Cars At MIAS 2016
MANILA: The highly awaited Manila International Auto Show 2016 has opened its gates yesterday for the Philippine autofans. This 4-day extravaganza hosts the latest offerings and automobile technologies which are on display to the public along with many standout activities and events. One of these automakers that has made a grand entry with its fleet of cars is the South Korean brand Hyundai. Let us take a brief look at the Hyundai Philippines’ highly awaited models which have lit up the Hyundai booth at MIAS 2016.
Adhering to the new Government rule of Euro-4 Emission level, Hyundai has finally revealed its trump card at the show- Veloster Turbo. Unlike the standard hatchback model, the Hyundai Veloster Turbo is a total departure from the former’s sophisticated and elegant look. Powered by the GDi Technology 1.6-litre power mill, the updated Veloster Turbo is capable of churning out the max power of 204 PS and peak torque of 265 Nm. The customers now have the choice of transmitting the power to the front wheels through seven-speed DCT or six speed manual transmission. The three-door sportback has also received few modifications here and there like the front fascia now sports oversized black grille, restyled projector headlights, round foglamps as well as the aggressive side sill.
The newest crossover vehicle on Hyundai’s bill, the all-new Hyundai Tucson is a great example of the new direction that the South Korean automakers have decided to take with their future models. Positioned below the santa Fe which was also showcased at the show, the new Tuscon seems to have adopted the downsize-and-turbocharge engine strategy with the new 1.6-litre Turbo GDI engine rated at 164 hp/151 Nm. With exciting looks and versatility, the new Hyundai Crossover will rub its shoulder with Honda CR-V and other prominent crossovers in the market.
Already impressing the audience and automotive experts with its stylized design, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra was recently awarded with the iF Design award. The vehicle was launched in the Philippine showrooms in December 2015 and was presented with a 2.0-litre MPi engine. The powertrain is available with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Their latest model, the Elantra 2016 goes head to head with premium automobile brands such as Mazda, Toyota and Honda. Since the vehicle never got its well deserved launch party in the Philippines, the manufacturers have decided to showcase it at the upcoming MIAS 2016.
2016 Santa Fe: Tucked to the side of other Hyundai latest drives, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) also previewed 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe with new improved designs including all-new front-grille, revised bumpers and headlights. However, the brand only previewed 2.2-litre 2WD A/T variant priced at PhP 1.698 Million.
Hyundai Philippines is a highly trusted brand in the country’s mass market vehicle segment and is pretty much on par with their competitors such as Honda, Suzuki, Toyota and Nissan. They recently signaled the arrival of their new Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines in the Philippines, which was also showcased along with several updated and new car models under their brand.
