Korean automaker’s distributorship locally now under Son
MANILA: The future of Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) has been entrusted to its new president, Jiho Son.

Prior to his new role, Son previously served as the Head of Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore Sales Innovation Group and was also able to lead the India and Asia-Pacific Sales Support Team.In a letter, HMPH Managing Director Cecil Capacete announced the company’s transition to the new helm after being held by the company’s former president Dongwook Lee for two years.
To note, it was under Lee that the brand was re-launched back in the middle of 2022.
Capacete noted that under Lee’s watch, the company achieved 32.4-percent growth this year and expanded its dealer network to 34 — with more to follow in the coming months.
He also shared that it was under the former leader’s management that the brand was able to bring in numerous models that “helped establish the brand’s image as a trusted automotive partner in the country.”
Son’s credentials
Per Capacete, the new president — who started office as of yesterday (October 15) — brings with him his vast experience as he previously served as the Head of Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore Sales Innovation Group.
Prior to his service in the Lion City, Son also led the India and Asia-Pacific Sales Support Team.
