Hyundai Motor unveils breakthrough designing through “Prophecy” Concept EV

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its new concept EV, “Prophecy”, expressing the company’s latest design language. The visionary concept clearly expresses Hyundai’s aim to explore new avenues and experiment with designing technology. Through Prophecy, Hyundai takes “Sensuous Sportiness” to a different level, building on the era-defining example set by last year’s electric 45 SUV concept. But, where the 45 was mostly a concept with minimalistic geometry with sharp angles, the Prophecy will explain how far it can go with a protractor alone.

Prophecy follows suit with an iconic silhouette of perfect proportions inspired by an aerodynamic design. Hyundai engineers have achieved the Ultimate Automotive Form, all thanks to the new EV architecture defined by pristine surfaces and pure volume in combination with aesthetic harmony and functionality.

A very delighted Sangyup Lee, the Head of Hyundai Global Design, said “We have brought to life yet another icon that establishes a new standard for the EV segment as well as pushing Hyundai’s design vision to even broader horizons,”. “A part of that expansion is what we call Optimistic Futurism, a design concept embodied by ‘Prophecy’. With Optimistic Futurism, our aim is to forge an emotional connection between humans and automobiles.”

“Prophecy” exterior does full justice to Sensuous Sportiness

The design ideology is evident in the appealing side section, which is more like a perfect weathered stone. The overall design is curvaceous with a clean and simple curve streamlined from front to rear with minimalist restraint.

The propeller shapes embedded in the vehicle’s wheel compel air to be drawn in and flow down the side of the body like water over a stone. The rear spoiler is integrated and complements the downforce that aids vehicle stability when travelling at speed.

The transparent acrylic material provides a clear view of the functional machinery inside, which would otherwise not be seen.

Progressive lighting technology is integrated into the headlamp, tail lamp and spoiler, calling to mind the abundant energy contained in the vehicle’s battery cells. Pixelated lamps are the real beauty of this concept car and will be named as the signature design element of Hyundai models.

The “Prophecy” interior realizes the benefits of an EV platform

“Prophecy” utilises autonomous driving technology, ditching the conventional steering wheel. However, joysticks provide a completely new and intuitive driving experience. Furthermore, drivers have access to a wide variety of functions, which can be selected via the joysticks’ integrated buttons. Ultimately, this human-machine interface enhances passenger safety.

In Relax mode, passengers have virtually zero visual obstacles. In a comfortably reclined position, all that the passengers see is the horizontal pillar-to-pillar display and the wing-shaped dashboard. In this mode, the dashboard allows for a spacious interior and seat position from which passengers are able to enjoy content shown on the display.

External intakes placed at the bottom of the side doors allow air to circulate through Clean Air Technology, providing a steady stream of purified air inside the vehicle. The interior colours and materials compel passengers to enhance their travel experience, aided by ambient lighting, while gently soothing modulated colours encourage rest and relaxation.

The name “Prophecy” reflects the concept’s purpose and undoubtedly it’s like a never seen before design. It also signifies a bright future for both Hyundai’s designs as well as innovative mobility solutions for the EV customers.
