Hyundai partners with Georgia Tech for research on future of sustainable mobility
MANILA: Hyundai Motor Group and Georgia Tech inked a memorandum of understanding to work together on studies and applications that will promote the advancement of sustainable mobility.

Hyundai Motor Group is investing $12.6 billion in electric vehicle and battery production facilities in Georgia. This includes the $5-billion battery production facility joint venture with SK On in Bartow County, which will create jobs for about 3,500 people, and the $7.59-billion Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) site in Bryan County, which will generate more than 8,500 direct employment. The close proximity to these facilities to Georgia Tech was a key factor when selecting the locations.

According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, Hyundai Motor Group's automotive operations supported the economy of the United States by contributing $20.1 billion and 190,000 jobs in 2021 alone. The study estimates that Hyundai's investments in Georgia will lead to the creation of close to 40,000 jobs and an annual increase of $4.6 billion in individual earnings.

The partnership between Hyundai and Georgia Tech also includes field-naming recognition at Bobby Dodd Stadium, which is now called Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field.
