Hyundai PH reports 5% sales increase in June
MANILA: Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) recorded a 5% sales increase for June 2021 versus the previous month. This figure is a positive indicator of increased activity in the economy as June is the first full month of post-ECQ status in the NCR+ region.
The commercial vehicle (CV) segment achieved a 40% increase in sales. Meanwhile, the passenger car (PC) segment reported 6.7% growth and the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales increased by 1.6%.
The locally assembled Hyundai Accent led PC sales with 13.6% growth rate.
The Hyundai Tucson emerged as the best-selling LCV for the month of June, with 33.3% sales growth rate. It was followed by the Hyundai Grand Starex which recorded an 11.9% sales increase.
In the CV segment, the Hyundai HD50S provided the momentum with 75% month-on-month sales growth rate. The HD50S was used in HARI’s contribution to the government’s PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP). The year-to-date sales of the HD50S increased by 775.8%, helping the segment’s sales performance improve by 454%.
In a statement, HARI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said, “HARI’s steady growth mode is a sign of how we, shoulder-to-shoulder with our nationwide dealership fortress, have grown in resilience through our 20-year journey as the Filipino’s lifetime partner in mobility. We are definitely driven to start a new chapter of HARI history, which may be the toughest one yet—recovery on to achieving equilibrium in the new normal era. Thanks to the people of Hyundai, we’ll get there.”
