Hyundai revealed the electrified version of Lafesta sedan

MANILA: Along with the five debuts at Los Angeles Auto Show this week, Hyundai has also marked its significant presence at the 2019 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition happening in China. The brand showcased the electrified version of its China-specific Lafesta sedan at the event. The model houses a modified internal combustion engine (ICE) capable of generating around 203 PS of power.

In actual, the model is a stretched version of the Elantra and lies just below the Sonata with electric motors in place of a gas engine. The front cues of the EV are taken from Elantra as front-end, and rear tail lamps of EV are identical to it. The brand’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design can also be seen with some changes, including a refreshed grille, modified front, and rear bumpers, as well as a new pair of 17-inch aluminium wheels.

When it comes to performance, the brand has impressive claims about its electrified family sedan. Hyundai Lafesta EV can travel up to 490 kilometres on a single full charge, same as a car with an ICE. The credit goes to a reasonably large 56.5kWh high-capacity lithium battery. On the other hand, the powerful electric motors are pretty good for churning out 203 PS and 310 Nm of torque.

Inside Lafesta EV cabin, you can find a 7-inch TFT instrument bonnet, a 10.25-inch LCD Audio-Video-Navigation infotainment screen, and a wirelessly controlled Shift-by-Wire electronic lever. Other than these, Lafesta EV specs sheet mainly includes a black metallic console, wireless cellphone charger, and a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of safety, the EV is loaded with six airbags, burglar alarm and advanced driver-assistance features including:

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist,
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Safe Exit Warning
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist

Besides this, Hyundai also previewed some other EVs at the show, which includes 45 Concept EV, the Encino EV, Veloster ETCR, the NEXO FCEV, and Elantra Lingdong PHEV.
