KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much is the Hyundai Stargazer X sold in Indonesia?
In Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer X is priced at around P1.187 million. What is the price range of the Hyundai Custo/Custin in Taiwan?
The Taiwan-spec Hyundai Custin has a sticker price of about P2.581 million. An invite was sent to Zigwheels Philippines, which revealed four concealed vehicles. The said invitation was captioned “Be a part of a bigger Hyundai family.”
The three automobiles bear the similar dimension of a Stargazer while the fourth and final model appear to have the same wheels and window appliques and wheels as the Custo minivan.
Per HMPH, the said vehicles will be unveiled within the month.
Hyundai Stargazer X
The Hyundai Stargazer X is the crossover version of the locally available Stargazer multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
In Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer X is powered by a 1.5-liter engine and is mated to Hyundai’s version of a continuously variable transmission. On that note, it can produce around 113 horses and about 144 Newton meters (Nm) of pulling power.
The Indonesian-spec Hyundai Stargazer X is equipped with an eight-inch infotainment system as well as a 4.2-inch thin-film transistor instrument cluster.
Looking at the figures, the Hyundai Stargazer X appears to have a lot in common with its MPV sibling. However, its selling point for Filipino car buyers could be its larger dimensions and more athletic build.
The crossover measures 35 millimeters (mm) longer, 35mm wider, and 15mm taller than the MPV. Further, its ground clearance is 15mm higher than the latter.
It would make for a great choice for active Filipino families and a strong contender against segment mainstays like the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.
The Hyundai Stargazer X is priced in Indonesia at Rp.325.600 million (approximately P1.187 million.)
Hyundai Custo
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Custo is a minivan sold in countries like China and Taiwan. The Taiwanese-market Custo is called Custin and packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission system.
The said setup can produce as much as 170 horsepower with 235Nm of peak torque.
Highlights of the Taiwan-spec Hyundai Custin include creature comfort amenities like second-row VIP seats, electric sliding doors, an electric tailgate, and a 10.4-inch infotainment system.
The luxury minivan also packs features such as a dual sunroof setup, wireless charging pads for second-row occupants, and air conditioning vents for those sitting in the third row.
Should HMPH sell the Custo — or Custin — in the Philippines, it could go toe-to-toe against the likes of the Kia Carnival.
In Taiwan, the Hyundai Custin has a sticker price of NT$1.469 million (about P2.581 million).
