Isuzu PH donates P250K to National Kidney and Transplant Institute

MANILA: Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) donated P250,000 to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) in celebration of World Kidney Day 2023 on Thursday, March 9.

IPC began its series of donations to hospitals after announcing its Road to Progress vision at its 25th anniversary in 2022. The Road to Progress vision aims to integrate IPC's corporate goals with its commitments through a new perspective that prioritizes the environment, society, and governance. In accordance with its social aspect, IPC promotes good health and well-being of Filipinos as a way of giving back to the community.

For World Kidney Day 2023 with the theme “Kidney Health For All,” NKTI held a four-day celebration that began on March 6. To help increase awareness on the importance of kidney to general health and to lower the prevalence of kidney-related diseases around the world, NKTI organized a number of activities including exhibits, forums, and free examinations.

IPC Assistant Vice President for Administration Imelda Bernas and IPC Assistant Division Head for Sales Robert Carlos attended the program on the last day of NKTI's World Kidney Day celebration to formally hand over the cash donation. In her remarks, Bernas praised NKTI's efforts to support the global campaign and said, “As Filipinos’ ‘responsible partner,’ Isuzu Philippines is honored to provide support to this global movement.”

NKTI Medical Social Service Division Chief Leonides Basada stated that the cash donation will be used to meet the medical needs of NKTI's indigent patients so they can continue with their hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

“We are very thankful for Isuzu Philippines Corporation’s benevolent act. The P250,000 cash donation will mean a lot to our dialysis and transplant patients. It will be a big assistance in their everyday medical expenses,” Basada said.
