Isuzu PH organizes relief operations in quake-hit Abra province

MANILA: Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) conducted relief operations at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Abra to extend support to the families affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake last July 27.

Because of the risk of more landslides and collapse of unstable structures brought on by the earthquake, many residents of Abra are still being evacuated. The province is gradually recovering with support from different government agencies, international organizations, and private companies like IPC.

The relief goods were delivered by IPC Administration Division Head Imelda Bernas, IPC Sales Assistant Division Head Robert Carlos, and Isuzu Isabela Operations Manager Antonio Benito Mijares. Food, water, and hygiene kits were distributed among 250 families who are currently settling in the evacuation center. Hot meals were also given out to the evacuees during the relief operation.

According to Cherish Lantano, representative from the Provincial Government of Abra, they appreciate donations from private corporations who go above and beyond in order to help earthquake victims. Even though a week has passed since the devastating earthquake, people from different barangays are still being advised to go to the evacuation centers to find shelter out of concern about unstable infrastructures.

As part of its Road to Progress vision, IPC continues to be committed to helping in times of need since volunteerism has always been ingrained in the Isuzu DNA. IPC believes that helping communities, especially in times of tragedies, is their responsibility to the society and country.
