Jaguar Land Rover to cut greenhouse gas emissions across operations by 46% by 2030

MANILA: Jaguar Land Rover has pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by 2030 across all of its operations. Furthermore, the company will reduce average vehicle emissions by 54% across all value chains, including a 60% decrease during the vehicle's use phase.

The company's route to a 1.5°C emissions reduction in line with the Paris Agreement is supported by the goals, which were endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Jaguar Land Rover's commitment satisfies the most ambitious goal established in Paris.

These goals indicate the company's commitment to 2030, followed by a second-decade goal of net zero emissions across supply chain, product, and operations by 2039. To do so, Jaguar Land Rover will reduce carbon emissions in design and materials, production lines, supply chain, electrification, battery strategy, circular economy processes, and end-of-life treatment.

To help fulfill its goal, Jaguar Land Rover has appointed Rossella Cardone as the Sustainability Director. Cardone will lead the transformation and provide assistance to Strategy and Sustainability Executive Director Francois Dossa.

“Sustainability sits at the core of our Reimagine strategy, with the aim to achieve net carbon zero by 2039, as the creator of the world’s most desirable modern luxury vehicles,” Cardone stated. “As we move from climate ambition into action, we are now embedding sustainability into the Jaguar Land Rover DNA to minimize our carbon footprint across our value chain. Science-based targets tell us how much and how quickly we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as well as keeping stakeholders informed about our progress.”
