Jaguar reveals Type 00 concept car
Brand's 1st reimagined production model to be released in latter part of 2025
MANILA: Jaguar — after a controversial rebranding — has unveiled its newest concept car, dubbed Type 00.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What platform did Jaguar base the design of the Type 00 from?
Per Jaguar, the design of the Type 00 is based from the Jaguar Electrical Architecture. What is the estimated range of the Jaguar Electrical Architecture?
The Jaguar Electrical Architecture has an estimated all-electric range of 770 kilometers.Per the British marque, the new concept vehicle is an “unmistakable, unexpected, and dramatic physical manifestation of Jaguar” and embodies the company’s creative philosophy of Exuberant Modernism.
The Jaguar Type 00 made its world premiere at the Miami Art Week today.
Exterior
The Jaguar Type 00 is a handful. On that note, it encapsulates the brand’s new image — positioning it as an advocate of art.
Outside, the concept car catches one’s attention with its long bonnet and fastback body style. Its fore wears a strong fascia characterized by linear design cues complemented by distinct headlamps.
Its flanks continue the symmetrical design, giving the Jaguar Type 00 a straight and perpendicular bodyline. Complementing the flawless look of the concept car are a pair of seamless doors.
Accentuating its side profile is a laser-etched “leaper,” proudly set into a hand‑finished brass ingot on each side of the car. These ingots hide the Jaguar Type 00’s rear‑facing cameras, which deploy when needed.
The rear of the vehicle boasts a glass-less tailgate as well as distinctive horizontal Strikethrough graphics.
“Jaguar is no place for ordinary. When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before. Type 00 commands attention, like all the best Jaguars of the past. It has a dramatic presence, channeling a unique spirit of British creativity and originality. It celebrates art and embodies the essence of Exuberant Modernism,” Jaguar Chief Exterior Designer Constantino Segui Gilabert said.
The Jaguar Type 00 was presented in two colors, Miami Pink and London Blue.
Interior
The cabin of the Jaguar Type 00 is as modern as its exterior. Immediately catching one’s attention is its hand‑finished brass trim, which run the length of the interior. The said brass fitting divides a pair of floating instrument panels, each measuring the width of the dashboard.
An oval steering wheel with three spokes comes with the new Jaguar logo in the middle.
Jaguar also used a slew of unique materials inside the vehicle, which include travertine stone, woven textiles, and a tactile wool blend.
“The Materiality ideology for Type 00 embraces authentic, unexpected materials and captivating color, with our new creative philosophy visible at every turn. We have three key materials – brass, travertine stone, and textiles — and the way we use these materials represents bold pieces of art and creates a unique atmosphere,” Jaguar Chief Materiality Officer Mary Crisp noted.
Electric powertrain, future offering
Not much has been mentioned about the powertrain of the Jaguar Type 00. However, the company noted that the design of the concept vehicle was “enabled” by its “unique and dedicated” Jaguar Electrical Architecture.
On the other hand, Jaguar stated that the first reimagined production car will be an electric four‑door Grand Tourer. It will — the brand pointed out — use the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture and will have a targeted range of 770 kilometers.
How much of the Jaguar Type 00’s design will trickle down to the upcoming production model will remain a mystery until the company decides to reveal its newest offering in the latter part of 2025.
