Japan Mobility Show now a yearly event
Does this mean more chances to see new cars? Not quite.
MANILA: The Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association Incorporation (JAMA) reports that it will now hold the popular and highly anticipated Japan Mobility Show (JMS) annually.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Who organizes the Japan Mobility Show?
The organizing body of the Japan Mobility Show is Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association Inc.Why did its organizers turn JMS into a yearly event?
In order to have time exclusive for businesses and a separate event focused on consumers. For those unaware, the past iterations of the JMS have been held every two years (bi-annual). But starting in 2024, JAMA will now hold the esteemed car show event once every year. The 2024 edition of the show is now scheduled for October 15-18, 2024, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
The catch is that JAMA didn’t just turn JMS into a standard yearly car show event that’s fully open to everyone. Instead, the new version of JMS will have two distinct versions that will be held in annual succession.
The “first” year is what JAMA describes as a “process year,” and it is exclusive for businesses. According to the event organizers, the first part of the new JMS will allow corporations and companies to forge collaborations and partnerships with each other.
Meanwhile, the “second” year will function as the “show year” when the actual car show element of JMS kicks in. The show year portion is open to the public and set to be consumer-centric, with mobility products on display. Plus, the second part of the new JMS allows companies to showcase the results of the partnerships forged during the earlier process year.
Essentially, JAMA will divide the JMS into two sequential parts. To summarize, JMS 2024 will be a process year for businesses, while JMS 2025 will be a show year open to consumers.
JAMA also confirmed that 150 startups and 50 established companies will participate in the new two-parter version of JMS. According to the JMS organizers, all 200 entities will be matched together to form partnerships to advance innovation and overcome business challenges.
In addition, the JMS will likewise host the Future Mobility Forum as curated discussion sessions in designated venues. The keynote program's focus includes new mobility visions, environmental and societal issues, and challenges for the mobility industry.
As mentioned, the JMS 2024 will take place at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba from October 15-18. While exclusive, admission to this part of the new JMS is free, but online reservations will be required. The latter is available through the official JMS website.
