Jeep bags ‘Best SUV Lineup’ honor in 2021 Auto Awards by 'Newsweek'

MANILA: Jeep has received the "Best SUV Lineup" award in the 2021 Auto Awards organized by Newsweek.

The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L also bagged the Best Family SUV award. During vehicle evaluations, unique features that appeal to families were taken into account. The roomy third row, cutting-edge infotainment system, advanced technologies, and exceptional passenger comfort were the significant factors that helped the model earn the title, according to Newsweek.

In a statement, Newsweek Auto Senior Editor Eileen Falkenberg-Hull said, “The Jeep Grand Cherokee L does more than expand the Grand Cherokee family. It elevates the three-row SUV experience, making it possible to transport family members in comfort and style thanks to an outstanding list of standard and available features paired with classic Jeep 4x4 capability.”

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L builds on its legacy as the most- awarded SUV of all time, now with seating for up to seven people for the first time. The model won the Newsweek competition because of its numerous comfort and convenience features. It has premium styling and craftsmanship inside and out, as well as more than 110 advanced safety and security features including advanced driver-assist systems, 360-degree surround view, and night vision cameras.

To keep the entire family connected while on the road, the SUV is equipped with segment-leading technologies such as 10-inch digital screens, windshield head-up display, rear-seat monitoring camera, and class-leading USB ports. An optional premium 19-speaker McIntosh audio system is also available.

The 2022 Wagoneer was also hailed as the Best Full-Size SUV, while the Grand Wagoneer was named as the Best Luxury SUV. As a premium extension of the Jeep brand, these two models offer the peak of premium SUV interiors, with elegant American flair, finely crafted finishes, and modern-day appointments. With best-in-class overall passenger volume, total volume, third-row headroom, and second- and third-row legroom, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are designed to support the lifestyles of active customers.

“The Wagoneer brand is back, bringing with it a new way to experience full-size three-row SUVs. The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer punch above their price tag weight, delivering the types of features, capability and design that families are seeking. On top of that, both models are incredibly easy to drive,” Falkenberg-Hull stated.

The Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer feature next-generation features such as a rear-seat monitoring camera, windshield heads-up display, frameless digital cluster, premium McIntosh audio system, 10.25-inch front passenger interactive display, Fire TV for Auto, and up to 75 inches of total digital screen area.

The Wagoneer has best-in-class towing capability of up to 1,000 lbs, allowing almost any toy to be hauled while the occupants sit comfortably inside and enjoy integrated smart technology and connectivity. Meanwhile, the Grand Wagoneer sets the standard for luxury as it is designed with genuine handcrafted Satin American Walnut wood trim, Palermo, leather-trimmed upholstery and quilting, and leather-wrapped instrument panel, consoles, and door panels with accent stitching.

All these three award-winning vehicles come standard with a Uconnect 5 infotainment system, Stellantis’ most advanced in-car technology with five-times faster operating speeds, new content, and upgraded customization. The Uconnect 5 system also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, providing convenience and connected services to keep passengers entertained and informed while drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

During the evaluation procedure, vehicle features and specifications contributed for 75% of the judging score, while the remaining 25% was based on Newsweek staff’s vehicle drive impressions. The overall winners were determined by averaging the vehicle ratings to obtain a product line score.
