The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L also feels upmarket and premium inside, with the cabin featuring an all-black theme with perforated Capri leather-trimmed seats. The four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel is electrically adjustable and has memory adjustments, and the same goes for the driver’s seat and outside rearview mirrors.

The cabin of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L looks tech-laden with the presence of a 1-.25-inch full-TFT instrument console with configurable display modes behind the steering wheel and a slanted 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage in the middle of the dashboard. Featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this screen also serves as a control screen for the 9-speaker Alpine sound system. 

The other feel-good features available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee L as standard are a powered tailgate, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, powered co-drivers seat, head-up display, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, second-row manual window shades and three-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents. 

With this fifth-generation version, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has become more premium in its appearance, while still having a bossy appearance with the traditional upright stance and boxy profile. The new version impresses with its sleek lines and angular elements at the front, including the rectangular all-LED headlamps with chrome garnish and eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, boxy-looking seven-slat grille with chrome-surrounded inserts, and tapered lower edges.

More chrome can be seen below the housings for the fog lamps and air dam in the front bumper. The grille here also features active shutters for better aerodynamics at higher speeds. The boxy and upright stance of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is at its very best when viewed from the side profile, with the SUV getting purposeful 20-inch five-spoke machined alloy wheels. Having squared wheel arches, side body moulding, roof rails, and panoramic sunroof, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L also gets sleek and stretched combination LED tail lamps, floating D-pillar, and trapezoidal housing for the license plate in the lower half of the boot lid. 

With an independent multi-link setup for both front and rear wheels, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a comfortable SUV when it comes to ride quality. This full-size SUV from Jeep is being offered with a Quadra-Trac full-time four-wheel drive system with a Selec-Terrain system comprising of drive modes like Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, Roack and Auto. The Philippines car market gets the Jeep Grand Cherokee L with a single engine option – the very-popular 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine, which here is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This petrol engine delivers a maximum power output of 282 bhp, while the peak torque output is 344 Nm. While the engine impresses with its performance and power output, the fuel efficiency, particularly in low-speed traffic conditions, is dismal. 

For its price, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is well-specced with safety features like eight airbags, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking, intersection collision assist system, blind spot and cross path detection, active lane management system, four-wheel traction control, occupant detection system, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, front and rear parking sensors, surround-view camera, ABS with EBD, hill start assist and hill descent control.
