The all-new Jeep Avenger will be launched at the Paris Motor Show on October 17.Four all-electric Jeep SUVs are set to be released in North America and Europe by the end of 2025. By the end of 2030, 50% of Jeep sales in the US will be fully electric, while 100% of sales in Europe will be all-electric. The plan supports Stellantis' net-zero carbon emission goals set forth in the Dare Forward 2030 long-term strategic plan.
“Driven by the success of our electrified 4xe portfolio in North America and Europe, we are designing and developing the most capable and sustainable Jeep SUVs to date, on our path to becoming the leading zero-emission SUV brand in the world. This is a forward-thinking strategy to help ensure millions of Jeep fans around the world continue to have a planet to explore, embrace, and protect. Electrification is great for our brand, making it even more capable, exciting, sustainable, and fun,” Jeep Chief Executive Officer Christian Meunier stated.
Building on the popularity of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the US, and the recently launched Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, the brand is creating a comprehensive electrified product line that will boost the brand's illustrious capability and expand its presence in North America.
“With the continuous expansion of the 4xe technology across our entire portfolio, we are redefining freedom and adventure in a way that only the Jeep brand can. By the end of 2025, our full lineup will be electrified, including four all-electric vehicles competing in the heart of the marketplace,” Jeep North America Head Jim Morrison said.
Jeep unveiled the first images of two all-electric SUVs that will be available in North America and other parts of the world: the all-new Jeep Recon and an all-new Wagoneer, code-named Wagoneer S.
With a rugged, fully electric vehicle package, the all-new Jeep Recon is designed for people who enjoy extreme adventures.
Jeep Recon is made entirely of Jeep 4x4 components and is completely emission-free. It is designed to upgrade off-roading adventures by delivering true trail-rated capability with Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks, and aggressive off-road tires. It also offers authentic Jeep open-air freedom with its one-touch powertop, removable doors and glass. Jeep Recon is also equipped with the latest Uconnect system with travel guides of famous off-road trails.
“The all-new, all-electric Jeep Recon has the capability to cross the mighty Rubicon Trail, one of the most challenging off-road trails in the US and reach the end of the trail with enough range to drive back to town and recharge,” Meunier said.
The Wagoneer S, on the other hand, is positioned to help Jeep expand its presence in the premium SUV segment by providing a distinctive, aerodynamic design, 4x4 capability as standard, all-terrain management, cutting-edge Jeep-focused technology, and impressive performance credentials.
This all-electric SUV will only be available as a battery electric vehicle, with 600hp, a target range of 643km, and a 0-100 kph time of around 3.5 seconds.
The exterior design of the Wagoneer S features a signature LED-lit grille. It is characterized by its aerodynamic efficiency and classic upright Wagoneer side profile.
“We’ll delight our customers with a premium, highly efficient SUV that is loaded with technology and high quality craftsmanship, offering 4x4 capability, high performance, rapid acceleration and a target range of 400 miles on a single charge,” Meunier stated.
Both the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer BEV will make their world debut next year and production will begin in 2024 in North America. Reservations in the US will begin in early 2023. Both vehicles will also be available in major markets around the world.
In Europe, the Jeep brand has already undergone a major shift by exclusively selling electrified SUVs in countries like Germany and France. Almost all of the European markets will offer a 100% electrified Jeep SUV lineup by the end of this year.
The plan builds on the 4xe momentum by creating a lineup of capable, fully electric vehicles that are designed and shaped appropriately for the European market. By 2025, the brand will release four zero-emission vehicles in Europe, with options in the key volume segments. Due to this product onslaught, all Jeep models sold in the region will be fully electric by 2030.
The all-new, all-electric Jeep Avenger, a compact SUV that was unveiled earlier this year during the Stellantis Dare Forward long-term strategic plan, is the first model of this product offensive.
The all-new Jeep Avenger will be positioned under Jeep Renegade and be released in Europe and other markets, including Japan and South Korea. It will be manufactured at the high-efficiency plant in Tychy, Poland.
This new SUV will have a modern, high-tech cabin with plenty of room for passengers and cargo, exceptional ground clearance, breakover, and approach angles for its segment, and a targeted electric range of 400km.
“The all-new Avenger will offer Jeep brand capability that is right-sized for the European market. This modern, fun and emotional SUV will appeal to a growing set of customers who are looking for a capable, compact, modern and all-electric Jeep brand alternative to the current players,” Jeep Europe Head Antonella Bruno said.
Reservations for the Jeep Avenger will open on October 17 during the Paris Motor Show press day. The all-new Jeep Avenger will hit the showrooms in early 2023.
By applying electrification and technology, Jeep is boosting its acclaimed 4x4 capability while also expanding its 4xe offering across the globe. Even if the contents of the current plan concentrate on North America and Europe, specific plans for other regions will be released at a later date.
“Today we shared only a glimpse of our new portfolio of all-electric SUVs, providing tangible evidence of what is to come in the next 24 months and why we say that 4xe is the new 4x4,” Meunier stated. “This powerful combination of Jeep design, legendary 4x4 capability and electrification will reshape the SUV market, allowing more customers in more countries and in more segments to join us on our path toward Zero Emission Freedom.”
Built on more than 80 years of illustrious heritage, Jeep is the authentic SUV brand that offers capability, craftsmanship, and versatility to those who seek remarkable journeys.
